And you better hurry if you have been holding out, there are only a few sets left.  Once they are gone, they are gone… and there will be new designs to take their place.

News:

1. TLSfx has just released their 3rd gen of their airsoft pyrotechnics line.  They have been cosmetically upgraded to closer resemble real devices, and most have seen the addition of a spoon. And who doesn’t like spoons?

2. The designers over at Ares have been hard at work in the last months of 2009, and have some new airsoft offerings to show for it.  3 new rifles are on the horizon, and are already available for preorder;  The WA2000, PPSH1 and the LMG. Expected delivery date is end of January 2010.

3.  Looks like Marui is at it again, but this time they are breathing new life into some of their aging AEG models.  They have introduced new “High Cycle” versions of the G3 SAS and the MP5A5.  With 25 rps performance from a 8.4v NiMh mini battery, a 500 round magazine, and modest 265fps performance; they pack some serious ROF punch.  Check out Redwolf’s You Tube “Highly Scientific” tests of the new guns here.

4. Classic Army has released their early 2010 new model list, and there are some interesting additions.  Most noteworthy are a pair of Dark Bronze LWRCs, the Vulcan M134-A2 Minigun, and a Mk46 SPW. They should be coming to a retailer near you very soon.

5.  This could be the most expensive airsoft pistol commercially available today; Introducing the Airsoft GI Custom F-Chu Speed Racer. For that price it better shoot the wings off a unicorn at 1000 meters.

6. And the tracking units we talked about a few shows back are finally up for preorder…and you better bring your credit card, ’cause they don’t come cheap.  $490 gets you a pair.

As always a BIG thanks to our Roving Airsoft Reporters this week:

- Alex Kong, Mitch Mcguire, Robert Irwin, Ryan Limpus and Eric Fine

September 24th, 2009

Sour Skittles

Show #18 is (finally) here and it’s about dang time!!!!! It took us a while to recover from our airsoft hangover from OP:Irene VII, but it was worth it! Aside from the news, tips and advice you crave, we talk about our experiences at Operation Irene…all we can say is WOW!!!!  It was an event to remember.

Good news for show #18, Chris returns to fill the 3rd seat, Mechbox Mechanic fans can rejoice! Even though it took an act of congress to get him away from the tech bench and on the show, it was worth it.

Also in this show; we complete the Frankengun and start the BIG giveaway contest.  Just “fan” the show on Facebook and you are in the running, it’s that easy. ( See below for full details.)

This episode’s shout-out  goes out to the team over at KWA USA, or as Steve calls then…The K-Dub Crew!  It was great hanging out with the KWA guys at Irene, and if you haven’t had a chance to see their new AEG releases, check them out at www.kwausa.com or ask for them at your favorite retailer! We have my eyes on the SR-10…

News

- Steve has been doing his homework on the new Lithium Iron Phosphate (aka LiFePo4 or” LiFePo”) batteries that are making their way into the airsoft world.  They look to be  a bit safer than the LiPo models that are currently out there…tune in and listen to the discussion.

- Expert listener/reporter Conner B. has another fantastic find for us this show…and it’s a pillow?!?!!?  Oh Yeah, he found a PEQ-15 pillow for sale! Now I just have to find a way to mount this to my SAW.

-We discuss the pros and cons of the current line of Aries AEGs.   Chris has  a particularly interesting opinion on this one, and in turn references an AATV review of their new DSR.

- Chris was drooling over AXI’s Winchester M1892 Lever-Action gas airsoft gun.  “Mayor leggin’-it” is in this season (whatever that means…)

-We discuss the APS-2 based LSRP (cough, Barrett M99, cough) sniper rifle that Evike.com has online, and our personal experiences with it.

-Last but not least, we have a minor correction from Matt at Citadel Airsoft.

You’ll remember them as the Super-Awesome new 60,000 sq/ft indoor site in Worcester, MA we discussed a few shows back. We weren’t sure of the retailer that was partnered with the field at the time of that show, but now we know that it’s the fantastic team at Federal Airsoft.

Oh, while you are there check  out the great gameplay videos and pics up on the site too!

Review

Irene! Irene! Irene!  We just got back from Lionclaws’ Operation Irene 7 and have so many great stories to tell about the event! The bottom line:  It’s like playing in a Hollywood movie! Listen in as Steve, Chris and Jonathan talk about the event.

Tech Tip /Frankengun Giveaway!!!!

The day has finally arrived!  We are giving away the coveted Metal Body Echo1 M4 Stag-15, but not without 1 final upgrade.  We replaced the “heart” of the system with a Classic Army Super High Speed motor, and saw a solid 3 RPS (Rounds Per Second) increase on our 8.4v battery.

If you want to be in the running to win the Frankengun, it’s easy!  Just head over to our Facebook page and fan us.  We’ll be picking a winner at random on September 29th, 2009 at 5pm CDT (GMT-6) If you are already a Facebook fan of the show, you are already entered into the contest!

All listeners are welcome to participate, regardless of the country you live in (as long as airsoft is currently legal in your country).  We’ll contact the winner, and if you live in an area with airsoft restrictions we will modify the gun to comply with your country’s laws.

Good luck!

Airsoftology Episode #13: “The System is Down”

July 14th, 2009

We’re back for show #13 and Steve, Tim and Jonathan are here again to take you through the wild world of airsoft…in song?!!!??!  We blame the excessive caffeine.   Excuses aside, we promise not to sing ever again. Really.  :)

Clark joins us again for this show as a in-studio guest, but this time he’s more color commentary than interviewee.   Tim’s back in rare form as well, bringing his famous “sniper-ego”.  Lets just say that Jonathan has his hands full again.

Full of the stuff you want to hear, this promises to be another great (and wild) show.

Informative with a touch of humor; we break down the news, gear reviews and tech tips that you want to hear.

You can download or listen to the show by choosing your option below.

News

- G&G has a new L96 gas sniper rifle on the horizon and so far it looks good from the pictures.  Check out their site for all of the details.

- The long awaited Magpul UBR stock is finally out for real-steel, and they have an airsoft version as well.  The good news is that it is awesome, the bad news is that it’s almost sold out everywhere and costs $175 US.  You can look at the pictures and drool here, and if your lucky enough to get one we are jealous!

-Redwolf put together a rather funny “pain test” video, answering the age old question of what hurts more: a 6mm or 8mm BB?  Watch it here and judge for yourself.

- Speaking of videos, Airsoft GI has put out a blooper reel of their youtube video outtakes. Funny stuff.  Check it out here.

- After a few listener emails, we took notice of a preorder over at Airsoft GI for the (KWA) Umarex MP7 for $255.  A bunch cheaper than we though in the last show, and if your interested you better preorder.  With all the hype we expect them to go very fast!

- Echo1 has 2 BIG pieces of news this show and one is a game-changer.  1st, they have a new metal body Stag Arms M4 on the books.  All we can say is move over CA, there’s a new Sheriff in town.

- The second bit of Echo 1 news is a doozie!  They have been put through the hardest test in airsoft and have came out victorious!  They are now ASGK certified…to us normal people that means they have gained the Japanese airsoft regulatory commission’s approval to sell airsoft replicas in Japan, joining the hollowed ranks of Marui and WA.  Our hats off to you!  Read all about it on their blog at their site: www.echo1usa.com

- Finally, Well has a new AW .338 gas sniper on the market, and it very affordable if your on the hunt for a rifle.  No talk about the quality, but it looks to be a direct copy of the Ares AW .338.  If your interested, check it out at Everything Airsoft.

Review

- While this show’s review isn’t a new product, it is one of our all time favorite airsoft parts on the market today.  If you haven’t heard about this yet, let us introduce you to the pinnacle of pistons:  The Super Core piston by System.

The company name’s not a typo….this isn’t from Systema, but the other super-custom Japanese part company of a similar name.  Listen in and hear our review of this piston among pistons, and if you are interested in buying one (and you should) you can find them here and here.

Tech Tip

- We’ve had many requests for this tip, especially as you guys and gals start getting into the serious upgrading that we sometimes talk about on the show.  You’ve twisted our arms enough so we finally gave you the dirt on Bore Up Cylinder kits.

We cut through all the half-truths and misinformation around this mystifying part and give you the best common sense explanation that we can.  Join us as we explain how the elusive Bore Up kit actually works, and when you’ll need one.

Listener Segment

The listener segment is back!
