Listener Questions:
1. Mason O Writes:

So i just bought a WE scar gbb and I'm loving it. I'm loving it so much it fact that i began to wonder "why doesn't everyone use these?" I mean gas blowbacks are as realistic as it gets, much simpler to repair and upgrade and have a tendency to be sturdier and longer lasting than AEGs. so why did they fall out of style? I know people who claim to be or at least try very hard to be hardcore milsim types, but they just don't want a gbb rifle. some problems like, the price of gas and effects of cold weather i understand, but ive heard of ways around both. (like CO2 being better in the cold) what do you think? .

2. Erik Writes:

Why doesn't anyone do an airsoft podcast where players talk about their games? I find that the best part of most of the podcasts I've listen to is when people actually talk about there experience IN the game. I mean the gear is great, the training is rad, but the best part is when people have some AWESOME game story! Like the episode when one of you two threw a grenade and it feel a tad short and blew up but never hit anyone, or when one of you didn't change your mag and ended up being killed and so on. Bring the awesome!</itunes:summary>

Thanks to Cody S., Austin W. Alex K, and the rest of the RAR team!
Vocab:
Austin returns with another great vocab lesson this week: The Robert Furlong (For those not familiar with the name, Rob Furlong is known for the longest kill shot in history.)

We ALL know one of these. They don't have a specific weapon, despite what their title suggests. However they love to shoot whatever they have, and think they are an amazing marksman. Thus, these people love to call you out from 150+ YARDS while they are using something that wouldn't even shoot that far. These people tend to have a short fuse, and are also vulgar, especially when calling you out. Some think they know everything there is to know about airsoft, but are a clearsofter upstairs. Don't usually run with high grade AEGs.
PIC of the SHOW
From our RAR- Alex!!!!

Tech Tip
None formally this week, but if you pay close attention we give you a secret on how to prolong the life of your trigger switch. There will be a quiz later, it's is full of essay questions.
Listener Questions:
1. I just finished listening to Show 35, and you guys were talking about
the "mini" modified Dragunov with the full suppressor barrel but
couldn't remember the name. That's the VSS Vintorez. - Dalton P.

2.Why do high end performance AEG manufacturers like KWA not include Mosfet systems in their guns? - Thomas B.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>A new week and a new name. Oh "Airsoftology Talk" we barely knew you!

But after a few weeks of trying the name on for size, we decided it sounded too much like one of those AM radio shows... the ones that our Dad made us listen to in the car when we were kids. Hours and HOURS in the car, listening to the endless ramblings of....Oh, Uh, sorry. Forgot you were there.

But we digress.

So, we have a new name, and it's here to stay: Airsoftology Radio!

So, In this show Steve rants about theft at airsoft games, we welcome the start of the official airsoft season in the northern hemisphere, and we answer a stabbing question about rubber knives. Get it? Stabbing and knives....ha ha...ha.......ha.......sigh, yeah we know. That joke sucked.

Informative with a touch of (corny) humor; we break down the news, reviews and questions that you want to hear.

You can download, listen or watch the show by choosing your option below.

Show Notes
News:
1. Tanaka finally came out with a shell ejecting rifle! Fun? Yes! Skirmish-practical? No.

2. WE has been a very busy boy, and they have about a half dozen new gas rifles to show for it.

3. Airsoft GI interviews Jon Lu, yes THE Jon Lu.

4. WGC SHOP is movin' on up, to the east side.

5. Great news for those of us in the UK. It appears all the support that KWA USA offered will now be available in the UK. Check the new site out here.

6. Tired of dropping a ton on money on SERPA holsters for every loadout??? Blackhawk Quick Disconnect Kit is the answer for you.

7. We've seen the news that the US Military is planning on issuing Multicam to the troops deployed in Afghanistan, Steve spoke with a reservist lat week in person and the rumor has been confirmed.

8. Strike-Hold reported on British Army’s new Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP) camouflage as seen on the BBC (Made in partnership with Crye Precision, the creators of Multicam) Here's the link to the story.

As always a BIG thanks to our Roving Airsoft Reporters (RARs): Alex Kong, Ryan Limpus, Eric Fine, Tom B, Ben W, Miles P & Robert Irwin
Rant!!!!
This show Steve lets his rage loose on a recent theft of an airsoft gun at the local field, and we think it's very well founded.
Listener Segment
1.Robert Irwin (RAR) writes in to school us on the correct usage of "Union Jack" as a follow up from last show. Consider is informed!

2. Mason Writes in and asks out thoughts on safety and fun around using a rubber knife rather than the "bang-bang" rule, and we chime in.</itunes:summary>

Review
URBAN ASSAULT (MILSIM) SITE REVIEW 23rd January 2010

It's a cold day outside with a temperature of perhaps 4 degrees (celcius). Does that bother the players? HELL NO! This is Urban Assault.

I've heard about the site many times through the grape vine and everyone raves about it. Because of this i've been a bit sceptical and kept my distance. Now (not possibly being able to play airsoft as much as i'd like soon) i decided to give it a go. Boy am i glad i did! The site itself is HUGE and you can easily find yourself going from building to building and wondering where you are at first. Some of the buildings on site are 2 floors with stairs, fire escapes and multiple corridors and windows. This makes for interesting gameplay as you never know if there's an enemy through the door, up the stairs or outside a window and getting ready to get you!

As this was a MILSIM day there were ammo restrictions being NO HI CAP MAGAZINES. If you were caught with one, you would be asked to leave the site. That said you were allowed to carry as many mid-cap or lo-cap (and pistol) magazines as you wanted. :D The beginning of the day began with setting up team colours and being given our objectives for the morning and told about extra rules for the game day. These were written down on the opposite side of a map which was given to ALL of the players (which was a very nice touch i must say). On staircases you could only shoot on semi-auto (to minimise overkill) and there had to be 3 medics on the entire side. The medics would obviously hand out</itunes:summary>

Review
Chris had a chance to get his hands on the latest offering from Echo, the Red Star Covert. Of course since it's a "Mechbox Mechanic" review, you know he stripped this thing down to the last screw to give you his thorough opinion. Listen in as he shares his findings with the show (but we'll give you a hint...he likes it!).

Listener Segment
1. Listener EndGamE from Greenville, NC writes:. I wanted to let you know that version 2.0 of the AirsoftCalc iPhone/iPod touch application is up. I tried it out and it's so much better than the previous version. It still counts FPS, bb weight, and force like the last version, but now there are weapon and gear sections. You can list your gun, its internal and external parts and your gear. For instance, if you have a KWA M4 with a Super Core Piston, a pmag, a tightbore barrel, and a lipo, all of that can be listed. There's also a gear section where you can put your Tornado grenades (including spoon kits/distraction devices) or vests. It's great for keeping track of what you have. Plus, you can easily pass your iPhone/iPod touch around and have people drool over your loadout without having to show them! Great software, I give it an 8 out of 10 because it isn't the nicest looking app, but it's functional and does very well for a free app.

2. Listener Eli writes: you guys asked for some funny pics so this is one from a private skirmish i had with my team. this was from a fun end of the day game, and was almost a year ago but i thought you'd enjoy it. i was the juggernaut and could only die from a headshot so i had to make sure i couldnt feel much.... Oh yeah, check out the claymore codpiece!

3. Listener Cameron writes: My brother is looking for a new M4 and his budget is under $300...But the thing is that he really likes the Magpul PTS MOE Hand Guards...any suggestions, best makers, good and bad and ugly about the guns?
