Shout Outs

1. Nashville Airsoft is sponsoring show 47 with their first Airsoft 101 class.  - If you ever wanted to learn the secrets of professional airsoft techs then this is the class for you! These are the the same guys that make SAWs shoot 550fps at 40 rounds a second...just imagine what they can teach you.

2. Huge shoutout to the Airsoft Safety Foundation for helping win the first of 2 battles against SB798. The bill was defeated in the 1st round but has 1 more shot for passing as part of the reconsideration process.

The Airsoft Safety Foundation (ASF) is currently composed of 11 California companies. Our collective mission has been to enhance and promote the safe sport of airsoft through training, education and outreach here in California as well as through industry wide initiatives, such as through the development of safe ASTM standards for airsoft products. (ASTM is the American Society for Testing and Materials, a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of international voluntary consensus standards).

Show Notes

News:

1. Ares has plans to release their own Mosin Nagant, and in several versions the full length rifle, sniper versions with the scope and the carbine version. Hopefully this Mosin Nagant will have power that is use-able on the field unlike the zeta labs version which is shooting a bit too low to be skirmishable.

2. Popular Airsoft brings us news in the ACR world: Iron Airsoft has announced a GBB conversion kit for the popular Magpul PTS ACR AEG. Looks like it will add realism thr platform, and use WA M4 magazines. Release will be sometime this summer.

3. Not totally airsoft related, but this is definitely news-worthy. An amazing video of backyard combat, with plenty of special effects (1.9 million youtube views). Freddie Wong better watch out, these kids give him a gun for his money.

4. By way of everything-airsoft.com Andrew R brings us more on the Tokyo Marui releases from the Tokyo Hobby Show, we've seen the first 4 new offerings, but scroll down to the bottom for 3 previously-unseen prototypes: XDM .40, M&P .45 and HK45

5. Magpul M-Mags slipping through your grip, Well check out http://www.maggrips.com/ Way cheaper than the airsoft version, each kit does 3 mags for just over $10.

6. This new invention has our interest, it's a variable FPS device for your AEG which is manually adjusted. Its still in development so more details will be out closer to release. Check out the video here.

7. Madbull's new video brings together their entire line of BB shower grenades in one place for the first time (18!). The video covers the strengths and unique capabilities of each grenade to help you understand and choose among them.

Review

This show we review Element's EX219 Reflex Beta Version, better know as the ACOG Reflex Sight.

Element EX219 Reflex Sight

Thanks to Airsoft Barracks for supplying our review unit!

EX219

Highlights:
Around $90 retail
All metal design
Mounts on any 1930 / Picitanny rail system
Uses ambient light to illuminite the reticle by way of fiber optics, no batteries required.

EX219_05

Pros:
- No batteries needed, it always works.
- Co-witnessed with our test M4's iron sights prefectly
- All metal build, but still light weight
- Unique design is sure to get you attention in the safe zone.

Cons:
- Pricey at $90 US
- Not effective in dark rooms; no light=no illuminated reticle

EX219_03

Bottom line:
The Element EX219 Reflex sight is a unique CQB optic that is the first of it's kind to use fiber optic illumination in a replica. The polarized lens in conbination with the ambient illumiated red dot (or triangle actually) allow you toadapt to most lighting conditions, but due to this design dark rooms will make this optic unusable.

Even at the higher price it's a cool and effective design that will get attention on the battlefield, and save you the worries of carrying extra batteries.

It’s solid enough to give it our recommendation: “A Buy” with a 4/5 rating.

Listener Segment

"There are no stupid questions, just stupid answers from the hosts..."

1. Kenneth S. from CA writes:  I was wondering what type of Thompson I should buy?

2. Clay P gives us an answer from a previous question:  On the grenade pin retention strap bit in the last show, that's a great idea. I could go a step further by sewing a piece of 550 cord to the inside of your grenade pouch and attaching an alligator clip to the loose end. This is self contained and would be a little more complicated to use. These are also featured on a few Russian made vests, and is quite the useful feature.

3. Listener Robert C asks:  Where will i be able to find good BDUs, and should i get ACU, Muticam or OD? I mostly play outside at our new field.

Next Show:

The affordable powerhouse JG M-93 motor is queued for our review and we announce the winner of this show's caption contest!....see you in a few weeks for the next one!
